Morality, it’s Evolution and Cherry Picking

It should be quite well known that morality has changed greatly over the past thousand years. This has occurred pretty consistently. Yet the religious doctrine that governs many of these moral issues has not changed.

So why  has the morality of religious believers  changed?

The answer is ‘cherry picking’; the art of choosing what you want to obey and do not from a book or holy scripture which in these religions is inherently infallible, based on the social norms and acceptable limits of the society in which the scripture is propagated.

As I am most familiar with Christianity we shall start there.

Here is a short list of religious verses, some of which are  acceptable, some are not. All of which are RETARDED.

But remember, all of these are the infallible word of god as passed down to man.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ.

Titus 2:9-10

Slaves are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

Leviticus 20:13
“If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.

Jude 7
And don’t forget Sodom (Aka Sodomy) and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.

The bible also prohibits;

  • Tattoos
  • Eating Shellfish
  • Clothing of mixed fabric
  • Working on the Sabbath
  • Premarital sex

All of these verses can be found with a quick Google search. As is blatantly obvious most of these ‘rules’ set out by god are simply laughable, backward and primitive.

The next big question is;

Do you support a religion which actively encourages slavery and persecution?

If there are any Christians reading this, I beg you to open your eyes to the blatant barbarianism in your religion. Think for yourself, question everything.

“Christianity is the most ridiculous, the most absurd and bloody religion that has ever infected the world.” – Voltaire

Amen Voltaire.

History and idea of religion.

To continue the momentum of my first post I will begin with a post on religion.

I believe religion is the natural developmental path taken by  prehistoric man.

Human beings by nature possess a thirst for knowledge which has remained unabated throughout the Millennia. As our ancestors became more aware of their environment and just how strange this little world of ours is they were blocked by questions which seemingly held no logical explanations. Great oceans moved in and out, incredible volumes of water moved with rhythm and predictable. Rivers seemingly springing from nothing.  The blazing sun burning a trail through the sky daily.

The idea to human beings that something is beyond understanding is simply farcical, we the most advanced species to evolve on the planet. Our ancestors understood perfectly that these monumental feats would require god like power. Power they attributed to deities.

Every advanced civilization throughout mankind’s history has propagated religious scripture.

‘Random’ occurances such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions were attributed to angry gods.

As our understanding of our surroundings has advanced and evolved so have our gods.

Every advanced civilization has composed and compiled fables, which were spread as fact. This is evident in the Greek and Roman cultures, as well as Egyptian, Babylonian and even in modern day Christianity and Islamic traditions.

So common are these fables that a ‘bleeding’ effect has occurred, most evident in the similarities between the Egyptian god Horus and Jesus Christ, I would write all these similarities but I am simply too lazy, see

These similarities simply cannot be ignored, religion has changed.

In the light of expodential human expansion over the last 500 years much has occurred, we have learned of stars and planets as well as bacteria and medicine.

Another common trait of most religions is intolerance.

It seems the cycle of god-information-new god has been interrupted.

This begins with Christianity, the amazing spread of its scripture with modern technology has stalled the cycle, people are now set in their beliefs, with horrific consequences on both lives and technological advancement.

  • The inquisition
  • Christian Dark Ages
  • The crusades
  • Slavery
  • Repression of natural sexual urges
  • Repression of Homosexuals
  • Rape of children

One of, if not the greatest crime committed by religion is the instilment of a mindset, that ignorance and blind faith trumps knowledge and tolerance, a mindset which has caused unmeasurable pain even in our modern society and to this day slows scientific advancement.

In the age of knowledge, ignorance is a choice.

I thoroughly believe that at one point religion was a force for good, filling the gaps in our knowledge and providing peace of mind.

Religion has evolved

God is not great.

A new beginning

This being my first post I expect nothing in the way of views or comments.

Accustoming myself to this website and it’s features, seems rather streamlined on a whole.

I can see myself mainly using this as a place I can openly discuss and air opinions on various topics including in no particular order;

Scientific discovery

I will begin my first post as soon as I gain the inherent anger I feel for many topical issues.

Good day internet.
